Vihaan Joshi (born 1983) is a minor character in Manchester Chronicles. An Indian-born graduate of the Ark Institute of Technology, Vihaan has a Master's in Electrical Engineering. Vihaan, along with his sister Lalita Joshi, run Prestige Escorts in Manchester, while also working for the University of Knightsbridge's IT section. Prior to working for Knightsbridge Vihaan worked for the Paradise Foundation as a member of the Black Department.
Biography[]
Vihaan was born in Surrey, UK, the younger of two siblings. The soon of a gifted programmer and an office secretary, Vihaan and his sister Lalita Joshi both admired their father's work, soon finding themselves poking around computers. While Lalita gradually showed herself to better understand the technology on the inside, Vihaan complimented Lalita with his understanding of the construction of electronics. The shared passion caused the pair to form somewhat of a symbiotic relationship, resulting in them rarely being separated, despite the age difference.
Accepted into the prestigious Ark Institute of Technology, Vihaan almost immediately ran afoul of several of his classmates. Sexual harassment complaints would be filed by Darina Zajic and Corina Wolf, and if not for intervention from Karen Draskal, he may have been expelled. Karen had quickly taken an interest in Vihaan's work, in particular his experiments with tablet computers, which would see him and Lalita scouted to join the Paradise Foundation after graduation. Soon enough the pair were recruited for the Black Department, where they worked directly under Karen and Tiffany Petrushky. Vihaan and Karen would end up having a relationship, but it soon soured when it became clear Karen was stealing the work of the Joshis and passing it off as her own. This ended up being fortunate for Vihaan and Lalita, however, as when Interpol shut down the Paradise Foundation, Karen was blamed for their direct work with the illegal operations. Tiffany, one of Karen's allies, avoided punishment as well, but Vihaan used Type-7 to kidnap her and keep her as his personal prize.
Stuck desperate for work, Lalita pushed Vihaan to join her in getting low-key jobs with the University of Knightsbridge's IT department. The pair were hired and managed to rent rooms from Kallie Howard, but quickly became frustrated with their new working conditions. Scraping together some money, the pair built their own Type-7 Chip designs and began recruiting university girls to populate Prestige Escorts. Within the illegal company Vihaan handled building Chips as well as delivering the women to their clients. Needing assistance after some near-disasters, Vihaan soon got Dorthy Hopson as a chipped assistant. While able to think on his feet, Vihaan nearly got caught several times, including by Kallie and Cressida Penbrook, resulting in them both being chipped as well. Despite being a bit sloppy and immature, Vihaan has so far been able to help keep the fledgling business afloat.
