Savior is a television show that began airing on NBC in January of 2006 as a mid-season replacement. An hour-long science-fiction dramatic comedy series, the show was expected to fail but has become a surprise hit, its third season averaging eleven million viewers per episode. The show is produced by Cavanaugh Productions and at one point was considered to be tied into the mythology of previous series Space Flight.
Premise[]
An alien woman who visibly resembles a human and goes by the name Shamira arrives on Earth, landing her spaceship in a part in Los Angeles. While investigating the nearby city her ship is found by Maximilian Prophet, a mid-level crime boss who is also a fan of alien myths, who promptly steals some of its technology. Shamira befriends Jennifer Boyd and Brianna Velerio, an aspiring model and chef respectively, and becomes eager to study more about the relationship between her own people and humans. Upon discovering that members of Prophet's crime syndicate have started using stolen stasis field technology to commit crimes Shamira, adapting the human name of Mira Knight, starts working to thwart the criminals using her psychic abilities. Fashioning a costume modeled after those seen in comics, Shamira adopts a second alias as Savior, planning to bring the criminals to justice and recover her lost technology.
