Cassandra Flick (born 1978) is a main character in the Clockwork series as well as The IT Files. Originally with the Scotland Yard, she later joined Interpol and became a good friend of Lucienne Christophe's. Cassandra later became a member the International Temporal Enforcement Agency as well as the leader of the four-person Team Beta.
Biography[]
Like Father, Like DaughterBorn in Liverpool, England, Cassandra was the elder daughter of Nigel Flick and Kerrie Flick. Cassandra grew up hearing fantastic stories about Scotland Yard and dreamed of one day joining it as her father had before her. An overachiever, Cassandra's eagerness for perfection led to her having some conflict with her younger sister, Tamera Flick, who was more interested in enjoying life. Cassandra often chastised Tamera for her more reckless lifestyle, but ultimately the two made peace with one another. Upon finishing school Cassandra quickly applied to become a police officer. The dream of being in the Yard was quickly achieved and Cassandra became known for being a by-the-book Inspector, though this didn't earn her many friends. After going through two partners Cassandra was paired with Alexis Sutherland, the two going on to solve a murder before it could become a serial case. The case made both their careers, though the two began to fall out, Alexis secretly being in love with her partner but Cassandra unable to address the situation. Things ultimately changed when Cassandra was approached with an offer she couldn't turn down: recruitment by Interpol. Cassandra's departure negatively impacted Alexis's career, and the two didn't speak for years. |
TrainingRaymond Bishop had recruited Cassandra for Interpol, putting her together with fellow fresh recruits Lucienne Christophe and Jean-Baptiste Odilon. The trio became fast friends, Cassandra even developing a crush on JB. Cassandra's father Nigel disapproved of her joining Interpol but eventually relented somewhat, realizing the greater value she was contributing to the world. Ryan Tully and Janice Wang were other recruits Cassandra met during training, befriending them outside of her existing friends circle. After training Cassandra was frequently partnered with Lucienne, the pair making an excellent team. At one point the pair worked with Ryan and Janice in Ukraine, and Cassie later ended up working with Ryan again in Vancouver early in 2007. Clockwork MachinationsWhen Erika Stone began her international crime spree a few months later Lucienne naturally picked Cassandra for her team, also being joined by Hui Lan, Marika Heino and Tasia Spiro. Of the group Cassandra was the most certain that Erika was the culprit when her fingerprints were first found, leading Erika to pick on her the most whenever she bested the agents using Type-7. Eventually, the group exposed Erika and recovered the stolen merchandise, though Erika escaped arrest. Frustrated by the result, Cassandra was grateful to end up with a quiet assignment in India after the case was over and the team dissolved. Months later Cassandra was reunited with her old unit for a new assignment. The team's task was to capture kidnappers who'd abducted super-models all over Europe. The attempts failed and both senior agents, Lucienne and Aisha Reynolds, were frozen by Type-7 with no way to help them recover faster, as counter-drugs were still in their infancy. Cassandra and Tasia ended up being the ones who formulated and launched the plan that nearly caught the kidnappers, but Cassandra was defeated again and then taken herself. One of the kidnappers turned out to be Alexis, still nursing her crush after so many years. Cassandra turned Alexis down and for her trouble was used as a test subject for the Type-7 Chip. Eventually, Cassandra was rescued and caught Alexis before she could escape. The victory would be short-lived, as Ryoshi Tenzo ambushed Cassandra and Aisha soon after, capturing them both and leaving them presumed dead.

Second ChancesMonths after being taken by the Paradise Foundation Cassandra was being used as a field agent to help kidnap important public figures. Lucienne and the rest of Cassandra's old team worked to stop her and Paradise, but their efforts were constantly crushed. A break came when Cassandra was recovered by Interpol and was stunned to learn how much time she'd lost. Not wanting to waste any more time, Cassandra admitted her feelings to JB and the pair began a relationship. Eventually, Erika Stone was also rescued by Interpol and Cassandra ended up, uneasily, forgiving the criminal. Erika and Cassandra never became proper friends, but they no longer hated each other. The Paradise Foundation was ultimately defeated and Cassandra partnered with JB on an undercover operation, effectively giving them a work vacation to explore their new relationship. Months after the downfall of the Paradise Foundation Cassandra helped found the International Temporal Enforcement Agency, becoming an Assitant Director and a member of Team Beta with JB. Team Beta often did missions together and JB even proposed to Cassandra at one point, but Cassandra wasn't sure she was ready for marriage and turned him down. The pair worked together with Palmira Tiago to take down Club Mannequin, nearly being killed in the process due to Palmira's mistakes. In 2009, after being captured by Barry Finnegan and rescued by Tasia, Cassandra decided it was just wasting time yet again and agreed to marry JB. A month later Gregory Barnes and Anna Sokolov were added to Team Beta, Cassandra named the formal team leader though technically she just shared the position with her fiancee. Cassandra was forced to make several judgment calls during the final operations against Ouroboros, first helping to stop a riot at Waterloo Station even as her sister Tamera stood frozen by a then-unknown Chrono Flash. Soon after, Cassandra led Team Beta against Ouroboros in New York, deciding to risk enemy casualties in the hope of stopping Richard Stilton. Upon returning to London Cassandra was demoted from Assistant Director in favor of Lucienne, who'd in turn been bumped by Sonia Castillo. One of Cassandra's first assignments after the change was investigating smuggling in Egypt, leading her to briefly reunite with her friend Janice while in Hamunaptra. |
Regretful EventsWhen Sandy Vanholt used the Durga Hourglass and the Stillsville Camera to freeze time on a global scale Cassandra was trapped inside ITEA HQ. Separated from JB, Cassandra took solace in a reunion with Ryan Tully, who was separated from his wife Pepper Tully. The two bonded and reminisced a bit, Cassie introducing Ryan to Type-7. When William Volt and Suzanna Ortiz were revealed to have been planning to elope Cassandra saw the situation as a way to raise morale and began to help plan an impromptu wedding, offering her engagement ring for the ceremony as well. After the ceremony happened however Cassandra suffered an emotional breakdown, Ryan ending up comforting her first as a friend and then as a lover. While both had felt the need for intimate contact to help them cope, later when time was finally unfrozen both seemed to regret their actions. |
