Summary[]
Yale Student and member of the Wolfbann Society Petra Wolf is in Washington D.C. for the summer, taking both legitimate and more questionable work to earn extra money in between semesters. Janine Radcliff, Petra's old friend from their time as neighbors in Germany, sends her friend from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Parker Reich, to see Petra as she needs some help coping with recent traumatic events. The two manage to form a quick bond, Petra even becoming smitten with Parker despite her not being gay. In between sessions it's revealed that Petra is investigating United States Senator Cyrus Vanholt, trying to learn his dirty secrets by using hypnosis to get into his home and learn more from his wife Katrina Vanholt. Petra targets Katrina by first approaching Sandy Vanholt, also meeting Natalie Bishop who, unbeknownst to Petra, practices magic. Petra eventually gets information to satisfy her client and also makes a breakthrough with Parker, learning she has some deep-seated issues with ignoring some subconscious parts of her sexuality and her attraction towards women. While Petra isn't able to make Parker acknowledge her other side she is able to make her more comfortable with who she is. Eventually Petra is able to enjoy having several hypnotized women posed around her apartment as temporary statues. Petra's mother Eleonore Wolf stops by and the pair discuss Petra's feelings for Parker, which she doubts she'll ever be able to fully act upon.
